It's a great week in first grade! Here's an overview of what your scholars will be learning this week: 


ELAThis week we are focusing on words with inflectional endings -er, and eat (change y to i). We will also be focusing on different kinds of sentences. We will practice writing different kinds of sentences and how to identify them. Our story for the week is "What can you do?", and we will make connections from the text to real-life. 

Spelling Words:
hard, harder, hardest, fast, faster, fastest, slow, slower, slowest, sooner

Math: In math, we will learn about three dimensional shapes. How you can combine them, as well as where we can find them in our everyday life. We will compose 3 dimensional shapes as well.

Science:  In Science, we will review Chapter 8, “What is Matter?”. And there will be a test on Wednesday. 

Social Studies: In Social Studies, we will review how communication and transportation have changed over time and take a test on Thursday.  

Health: In Health, we will learn about community helpers, and the different ways they help us.

It's a great week in first grade! Here's an overview of what your scholars will be learning this week: 


ELAThis week we are focusing on words with inflectional endings -ed, and -ing. We will identify and use exclamations in text. We will use evidence from the text to answer questions and support opinions. We will also learn to identify real-life connections between words and their use. 

Spelling Words:
 Mix, mixed, hop, hopped, hope, hoping, run, running, use, used

Math: In math, we will learn how to recognize different shapes. We will compose two dimensional shapes and new shapes from the composite shape.  We will also learn the attributes of three dimensional shapes and how to compose rectangular prisms. 

Science:  In Science, we will continue Chapter 8, “What is Matter?” We will learn how matter and water change.

Social Studies: In Social Studies, we will learn how communication and transportation have changed over time. 

Health: In Health, we will learn about daily dental hygiene practices.

Science:  This week in Science we will be starting Chapter 8 "What is Matter?"
We will be identifing solids, liquids and gases. 
Social Studies: This week we will learn about how daily life has changed over time. 

Health: This week in health we will be learning how automation has an impact on physical activity.

 ELAThis week we are reviewing pronouns (personal, possessive, and indefinite). We will also be reviewing complete sentences, compounds words, and main idea and details of a story. 

 -Spelling Words:

Math: This week in math we are continuing the unit on time. We are still focusing on how to show, tell, write time in hours, and will be starting time to the half hour. 

Science:  This week in Science we will be testing over Chapter 7. 

Social Studies: This week we will learn about people who helped our country in the past. 

Health: This week in health we will be learning about the body. (heart, lungs, bones, and muscles).

 ELAThis week we are focusing on words with ue, u, and u_e and sorting words with long and short /oo/.  We will be identifying and using indefinite pronouns lłand describing sequence of events.  Our story for this week is "A Tree Is A plant."

Math: This week in math we are continuing the unit on time. We are still focusing on how to show, tell, and write time in hours. 

Science:  This week in Science we are learning about different kinds of wet weather. We will learn how to identify the four seasons.

Social Studies: This week we will learn about history and how primary and secondary sources tell about history.

Health: This week in health we will continue our lesson on physical activities and how different people have different feelings towards sports and activities.

Health: This week in health we will be talking about why physical activities are important for our health.

It's a great week in first grade! Here's an overview of what your scholars will be learning this week: 

 ELAThis week we are reading we are reviewing. We will focus on using words to describe myself, as well as reviewing contractions. 

 -Spelling Words:

Math: This week in math we are continuing our chapter about comparisons and data.  We will continue to practice organizing, representing, and interpreting data using comparison bars in order to prepare for our test!

Science:  This week in Science we will continue chapter 6. We will review this chapter and prepare for our test this week!

Social Studies: This week we will be using the words past, present, and future to describe events.

Health: This week in health we will be talking about food that the body needs to grow and feel good.(dairy, fruit, vegetables, meat, and grains)
